How the Program Works
Step 1:
Sign Up to join Mentors Counte Alliance
Fill out our quick application form to let us know who you are and why you want to mentor. We’ll review your information and get in touch with next steps.
Step 2:
Suit Up
Once approved, you’ll receive guidance on how to prepare for your mentorship day. You’ll either bring a suit to gift your mentee or sponsor one through our program. We’ll also provide simple training on how to teach tie-tying, presentation, and the basics of dressing for success.
Step 3:
Find Your Mentee
As part of your commitment to joining Mentors Counte Alliance, you are responsible for finding your own mentee. This ensures your mentorship is built on real, local connections and creates a ripple effect in your community.
Here’s how to get started:
Approach Your Local School
1. Identify the Right Contact
Start with the school counselor, principal, or after-school program coordinator.
2. Introduce Yourself and Mentors Counte Alliance
Explain that you’re part of the Men-Tours movement, which pairs boys with positive male role models for one day of mentorship.
3. Offer Your Commitment
Emphasize that this is a structured, one-day program focused on teaching life skills, confidence, and the importance of dressing for success.
4. Request a Recommendation
Ask the counselor or staff to identify one or two boys who would benefit most from this opportunity.
Connect Through a Local Church
1. Meet with the Youth Pastor or Program Leader
Share your desire to mentor and explain the Men-Tours model.
2. Highlight the Value
Emphasize that the program is not just about suits—it’s about building confidence, self-worth, and vision for the future.
3. Ask for a Candidate
Invite them to recommend a boy in the congregation or community who would benefit from the experience.
Step 4
Share a Meal, Share Your Story
The day ends with a meal at a local restaurant. Over dinner, you’ll share life lessons, answer questions, and show him what respect, resilience, and success look like in action.
Step 5
Leave a Lasting Impact
In just one day, you’ll give a boy tools and memories he will carry for a lifetime. You’ll plant seeds of self-worth, dignity, and ambition that can change the direction of his future.
